What started out as a volunteering opportunity for Princeton's Asian American Academy of Science and Technology - Home (aaase.org) turned out to be a glimpse into the cutting-edge research in the field of renewable energy that holds the potential to save the world.

Initially, my volunteering consisted of arranging registration of the 48 high school students on the first day. It also involved helping out the professors and organisers with tasks throughout the day and assisting parents with an queries they may have had.

However, it was during this week that I also got the opportunity to speak to professors like Prof. Ju Li and Prof. Ren yan. They introduced their latest innovations from novel methods of extracting raw lithium through capillary action (PureLi - Home) to green formates that could be the next way to store energy (Engineers develop an efficient process to make fuel from carbon dioxide | MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of Technology). They also gave me invaluable advice towards my perspective essay on the environmental damage of AI development which I am seeking to publish.

Throughout the week, one theme was clear. We need to push towards a green future.
